For celebrities, being photographed is part of the territory, and for Goldie Hawn, it’s nothing new. Having graced the spotlight since 1969 with her role in Cactus Flower, Hawn has long been accustomed to the public’s watchful eye.
Goldie Hawn’s fame only grew over time. After marrying Gus Trikonis and later Bill Hudson, both of whom worked in entertainment, her life continued to be in the public eye. Her children, Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, also followed in her footsteps, becoming actors themselves. So it’s no surprise that Goldie is used to the constant attention and paparazzi shots whenever she’s out and about.
Recently, a vacation photo of the 78-year-old actress in a swimsuit captured by the paparazzi went viral, sparking strong reactions online. While some viewers had critical opinions about her appearance, others were quick to defend and praise her.
Goldie, who has been in a relationship with actor Kurt Russell since 1983, shares one child with him. Russell also played a fatherly role in raising Goldie’s two children from her previous marriage.
One user expressed disappointment in Goldie’s appearance, writing, “I love her, but I hate the color and style of this swimsuit. I believe a little tanning cream wouldn’t hurt.” Another commenter criticized her swimwear choice, saying, “There comes a time when you shouldn’t wear certain suits or shorts anymore.”
On the other hand, many praised Goldie for how great she looks at 78. One fan wrote, “This is an amazing photo! I hope when I’m 78 I can stroll the beach in a bathing suit and tiny cover-up, not caring what anyone thinks! She’s beautiful!”
Frustrated by the negative comments, another user defended her, saying, “My God, people, leave her alone. She looks great for her age. End of story!”

Goldie Hawn has no qualms about the natural process of aging.
She shared her perspective with People, saying, “Getting older is a fact of life. By living mindfully, you understand that there are many transitions in life, [and] you just have to go through them. It’s wonderful to know that you’re aging because that means you’re still on the planet, right?”
However, she is well aware of the age bias that persists in Hollywood and among its audiences.
She expressed her thoughts to Bazaar, saying, “You think you’re going to fight the system? You think you’re going to prove to Hollywood when you hit 45 that you’re still a sexy, viable object? No. There’s a certain reality.” Despite this, she doesn’t let it anger her. “Does it make me angry? No. I’m not an angry person. I’m not a militant person. Anger doesn’t get you anywhere. It’s not productive.”

Despite the occasional negative comments, it’s clear that Goldie Hawn is able to rise above them with grace. Her confidence and outlook on aging are truly inspiring. As for her swimsuit, it’s all about embracing what makes her feel comfortable and happy—something we can all take a page from. What do you think of Goldie’s swimsuit?
